Equine Hot and Cold Water Therapy
The Equi Relief System is a therapeutic pain management, injury recovery and circulatory improvement system that can be used in the stable or at the show.
Equi-Ice is designed to deliver localized Hot and Cold therapy to horse.
The unit comes standard with a universal cold therapy wrap that fits many different areas of the horse.
Other benefits:
- The ERS system is adjustable from 32°F and 120°F – allowing for a therapeutic advantage.
- Either low pleasant heat can be set – or high penetrating heat.
- Safe, controlled, and time-saving to both the patient and the care giver.
- 7-8 hrs of continuous cold therapy.
- All body parts can be treated with the various wraps.
- The unit will operate from floor level.
System Includes:
- One ice and water reservoir with insulated water transfer tubes.
- One elastic and hook and loop belt.
- One wall transformer (detachable).
- One U2000 Universal therapy wrap.
- Instructions.
Features:
- Select: “Hot water therapy” or “cold water therapy”.
- Improves blood circulation or reduces edema/swelling.
- Reduces chance of water related bacterial, fungus and hoof maladies.
- Effective for pain relief in joints and sore muscles.
The ERS is an all in one system that combines heat therapy and cold therapy, allowing you to treat the horses injury, as well as help improve blood circulation and reduce the discomforts associated with many conditions.
What makes Hot and Cold water Therapy systems beneficial?
If the temperature outside of the body is hotter than the body’s internal temperature, then the body will absorb heat. If the temperature outside the body is colder than the body’s internal temperature then the body will loose heat. Since water is a greater conductor of temperatures than air, a water therapy system will help deliver or extract heat in a very effective manner. Also, the flowing water helps pull and push heat more effectively as well.
The unit circulates the water through tubing that runs to the therapy pads. Therapy pads are strapped to the treatment site using the compression belts. Since our system utilizes quick connect couplings, treatments can be paused and then resumed.
How does cold therapy help?
Application of cold therapy in the horse has been recommended in the treatment of acute tendon injuries, suspensory desmitis, and laminitis as well as other non-specific areas of swelling and inflammation.
- Inflamed painful tendons and joints respond dramatically to cold therapy.
- Continuous cold therapy allows for rapid treatment of pain and swelling, reducing edema and shortening recovery times.
- Cold can be applied continuously for longer periods with ice horse, increasing the effectiveness of the cold therapy you apply.
- Cold therapy can be used as a preventative measure reducing excessive swelling related to minor wear and tear and excessive filling in areas of previous injury.
